Things to do
For those who wish to venture further, Petite Riviere B&B also provides the ideal base to explore some of Nova Scotia’s best beaches found just a short drive away. Or take a bike tour to make the day that much more memorable. There are miles of breathtaking sandy beaches with numerous rock pools where you can enjoy the local marine life such as starfish and crabs.
Rissers Beach – This beautiful 1km beach features a boardwalk through an inland marsh (often featured on Nova Scotia postcards). During the summer months lifeguards are present and french fries available.
Crescent Beach – Famous for its beautiful 2 km of white sands extending to the tiny LaHave Islands. This is the only beach in Canada you can still drive on. Walk over the road behind Crescent Beach to Dublin Bay and take part in some clamming or enjoy some of Canada’s best birdwatching (when migrating). There are also kayak rentals and guided tours of the bay where you can see natural mussels, active lobster traps, otters and seals.
Green Bay Beach – Enjoy an ice cream or some fish and chips (Canteen) while the sun sets on the quaint cottage community of Green Bay.
Broad Cove and Cherry Hill Beaches are also just a few extra minutes away in their namesake communities. The waves here are ideal for surfing. While you are there, stop in at Hell Bay Brewing Co. and sample some fine local beer!!
Take the time to visit The Petite Rivière Vineyards, our local winery, for a tour of the vineyard and a taste of the fine fruits of their labour. Wines from Canada’s oldest wine growing region uses only grapes from the LaHave River Valley.
During the summer months experience our warm east-coast hospitality as you rub elbows with the locals during community breakfasts or evening concerts down at the Petite Rivière Firehall.
